weekend round up – 3rd July 2011 #NASCAR #DTM

#DTM – a wet day and a shortened race at the Norisring saw Bruna Spengler take the win from fellow HWA Mercedes peddler Jamie Green and the Canadian also moves back to the top of the table.

#NASCAR – the holiday weekend action at Daytona saw Danica actually get to lead the Nationwide race a few times and to do so on merit. Good for her. Mark Martin nailed his 50th pole position for the Sprint cup race, but contact with the #20 car saw him into the wall and finishing 6 laps down as David Ragan picked up his maiden win in Mark’s old #6 Ford.

weekend round up – 19th June 2011 #NASCAR, #DTM, #Indycar

#NASCAR – So Hamlin remembers how to win in the #11 car and takes Michigan. Another bad day for the#48 and a three spot drop in the standings. JGR in the wars though, as they await news of NASCAR’s reaction to the unapproved oil pans found on all of their cars at the start of the weekend.

#DTM – Martin Tomczyk again for Audi at Lausitz and he takes over the points lead. Good strategy helped him, as it did Timo Scheider for second spot, on a day when others just got it wrong. Ralphie quick in the mid race period and the fastest one out there, but unable to translate that into a good result. Poor Susie never made it off the grid.

#Indycar – Dario wins on the Milwaukee Mile and WP comes in 4th from well down the grip, so they share the points lead as they head out of town. Good to see the series back at the Wisconsin track.

weekend round up – 1st May 2011 #NASCAR #IndyCar #BTCC #DTM

Toggle here, standing in for TCB this weekend, so off we go first with the #NASCAR from Richmond. As regulars here will know we don’t mention the name of a certain pair of brothers so we’ll ignore who won, but honorable mentions for The Dinger for a good top ten in the #43 and also welcome back to the top 10 for Brian Vickers; good to see you back mate.

#IndyCar down in Brazil saw things get a bit too wet at Sao Paulo. Will Power with his 4th pole of the season so far doing well in qualy, but the damp conditions making it a bit of a wreckfest with the inevitable red flag in the race. The attempt at a re-run got another red flag and they will try and run the remaining 61 (of 75) laps tomorrow (Monday). I’ll update this post with the results when we have them.

Update 2nd May – Having managed to re-start the race today, Will Power picked up a comfortable win after Takuma Sato’s fuel gamble didn’t pay off, and Power now leads the series by 14 points.

The Indy 500 comes up this month. One of the world’s great races, even if the current generation of cars are not as spectacular as some of those we have seen in the past. Can’t wait.

#BTCC. Thruxton is one of our favourite circuits and saw the tin top boys out to play today. The ‘ondas doing well with a pair of wins for Messers Neal and Sheddon and with Jason Plato’s Chevy taking the final win of the day.

The #DTM got under way at Hockenheim with a dominant win for Bruno Spengler’s Mercedes. Fearsome cars these, and it will be good to have another manufacturer back in next year to add to the fun.

Off to Turkey next weekend in #F1 for the start of the European season. Should be interesting to see how things pan out now we’re back from the Pacific rim races.

Weekend round up 28 November 2010 #DTM

#DTM So another championship finale sees the guy leading the table fail to win the title when the chequered flag falls. Well done Paul di Resta for second place at Shanghai and a maiden DTM title and commiserations to Bruno Spengler for ending up 13th and slipping to third in the championship table as a result. Well done also to Gary Paffett for the race win and second place overall, plus an honourable mention for DC with 8th in the race.
