Weekend round up – 22nd April 2012 #NASCAR #IndyCar #F1

A slightly diffrent look to the blogs from this week as we cover the NASCAR Sprint Cup from Kansas and give IndyCar an honourable mention as we approach the month of May and the magic of Indy, but a certain other single seater series has earned our wrath.

#NASCAR All the fun of the fair in Kansas. Once again the MWR Toyotas were quick in practice and qualifying, but it was AJ that won the pole for Penske Dodge with a late run. The Fords were strangely off the pace in qualifying and you had to look a long way down the grid to find one. In the race Martin Truex led well for most of the race, but lost out to Denny Hamlin in the closing stages. AJ led 44 laps before fading to 32nd and 10 laps down.

Greg Biffle came in 5th to maintain his lead at the top of the table.

#IndyCar No action this week, but news that Bump Day at Indy will mean something is welcome as the entry has gone beyond 33 cars, so we should have a full grid and some uncertainty down the back end as the qualifying runs wind down. Even if the cars do look daft, Indy still has its role as one of the great motor sporting events of the year and one that we look forward to with great interest. The boys will be in Brazil next week and we will be rooting for Will Power once again.

#F1 saw some action out in the desert, but, as promised, because of our opposition to them holding the race, we boycotted it and will say no more.
