Plenty of top action this weekend with #IndyCar from Texas, #NASCAR out in the wilds of Pocono and #F1 on the river in Canada. Plenty of pit road speeding penalties too.
In the UK, the #BTCC saw a good weekend for Honda with Matt Neal taking two wins and Gordon Sheddon the other at the wonderful Oulton Park. We try to keep folks up to date with our Tweets on most major motor sports, so please feel free to follow @TheDriverJohn on Twitter.
#IndyCar saw Justin Wilson get a maiden oval win after Graham Rahal got too close to the wall in the closing laps and lost enough momentum to lose the lead. A bad day at the office for Dario saw him fall three laps down.
Will Power and Scott Dixon still top the standings.
#NASCAR on the Pocono triangle saw Joey Logano take pole and the win, even if he did have to shove former mentor Mark Martin out of the way to get it; he didn’t learn those manners from the DoubleM. For a while it looked as though Jnr would break his lengthening winless streak, but there wasn’t enough gas in his tank to make it. Controversy reigned over the number of speeding calls on pit road with the #48 getting busted for speeding on a drive through for, you guessed it, speeding.
Greg Biffle was another to have a bad day and dropped to third in the standings behind Kenseth and Junior.
As for the Ugly Brothers, junior blew his motor and took no further part while senior blew his top at the last race and took no part at all in the Poconos having been benched.
#F1 saw the record for the number of different winners extend to 7 in 7 races with Lewis getting his first of this season after a great run on a two stop strategy. Grosjean and Perez picked up the next two places ahead of a recovering pole sitter Vettel who changed to a two stop plan late in the race as his tyres ran out. Fernando couldn’t make the one stop work either and fell to fifth. Another bad day at the office for JB who finished back amongst the tail enders after three stops and a drive through for speeding; good of him to show solidarity with the NASCAR folks.
Lewis leads the points race by 2, but it’s tight at the top.
