Musings on Silverstone #BritishGP

The time it took to fix the barrier after Kimi went off on the first lap at the British GP was an embarrassment and for the first time I felt a kinship with Bernie over his periodic threats to take the race away.

Quite frankly I was appalled for this was a disgraceful performance for a world class event. I felt sorry for those left to try and resolve it for the failures lie with management. There should have been a properly equipped rapid response team, but no, we get a man with a spanner.

I understand the need for safety and whilst Niki Lauda was right that the chances of someone else hitting that same spot were zero, there were better alternatives to those deployed in ensuring that if lightning were to strike twice the consequences were mitigated.

Hopefully Silverstone will sort themselves out after that debacle.
