News from my second home of America cheered me after the shambles at Silverstone.
At Daytona Tampa’s own Aric Almirola won a rain shortened Coke Zero 400 (it sounded much better when it was the Firecracker 400) after a massive chain reaction pile up shook up the regular order.
Seeing the 43 car back in victory lane for Richard Petty was a joy, even if it was a bit of a wild card result. A win is a win and it’s great to see that Aric now has one on his CV.That it was 30 years ago that RP won this very race to notch up his 200th, and final, win makes it even more special.
Meanwhile a few hundred miles north in the Poconos JPM showed that he still has it in single seaters recording his comeback win in the 500 miler. Good stuff and makes up a bit for Columbia losing out to Brazil last week as he beat Helio into second place for a Penske 1-2.
